“Saya nak benar dia.

WALTER RHODES GLOBAL SSO CENTRE @ PERAK

The State of Perak led a delegation to Xiangcheng, China as a follow up to the Walter-Rhodes Global Shared Services Outsourcing (WRGSSO) Centre @ Perak's expansion initiative in October 21 – 24, 2008.

Headed by Y.B. Thomas Su Keong Siong, the Perak State EXCO member for Higher Education, Science, Technology and Communications, the delegation included Y.B. Drs. Khalil Idham Lim Bin Abdullah, Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly of Titi Serong; Dato’ Yaacob Nordin, Chief Executive Officer of KPerak INC Corporation, Ho Hsieh Hsiung, Head of IT and SSO Development of KPerak INC Corporation together with representatives from Walter-Rhodes Sdn Bhd – Dr Darren Ng, Managing Director and Andrew Ser, Executive Director. Joining them in this delegation also includes representatives from some of the technological tenants of the Global SSO Centre in Perak.

Walter-Rhodes Sdn Bhd, a leading ICT and technology management and consulting company will be setting up a Global SSO Centre @ Perak which is scheduled to be fully ready for operations by January 2009.

The centre, through strategic partnering with established solution companies, envisions itself to be the leading SSO service provider, supporting both local and global markets, by providing software solutions which are not only affordable but also complete, and is able to support the various business aspects required for productivity enhancement.

The software will work on a shared services basis, which does not require companies to commit themselves to high capital expenditure in infrastructure and software, bringing down their operating expenses.

This may come as good news to companies, especially SMIs and SMEs who still require assistance of technology for their business productivity and enhancement, but are facing difficulties during the current economic slowdown.

Walter-Rhodes BPO Solutions Sdn Bhd has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the local government of Xiangcheng on the establishment on another Global SSO hub in Xiangcheng, as part of the expansion strategy of the WRGSSO Centre @ Perak, which will then operate as a gateway for Perak based SSO companies to expand and penetrate into the Chinese market.

A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed during the trip between the State Government of Perak with the Government of Xiangcheng to promote mutual understanding and a good working relationship between the two governments, developing communication and possible collaborations in the development of ICT and technology aspects, especially in SSO and related high technology industries.

Resulting from this, Xiangcheng pledges to provide assistance, especially in market access to Perak based companies (particularly SSO and related high technology industries) wishing to setup their base through the Global SSO Centre @ Xiangcheng.

To ensure success of the Global SSO Centre @ Xiangcheng, the local Chinese government will also ensure the availability of relevant local knowledge workers to support the said centre.

Perak State Government in return has pledged to promote and encourage more local software and service outsourcing companies to gain market access through both the Global SSO Centres.

An annual showcase of SSO technologies to be held in either Perak or Xiangcheng is also in the talks.

There will be annual visits between both governments to enable communications, cooperation and future discussions to take place regarding the common issues for ICT and Technological development.

With this relationship built between the two governments, we anticipate that there will be potential technology-based Chinese investors as well as companies establishing their base in Perak.
