YB Al-Fadhil Tuan Guru Drs. Khalil Idham Lim for Perak state Exco!

Harap Al-Fadhil Tuan Guru Drs. Khalil Idham Lim faham.

Perak to reveal its exco today, Selangor's on Monday

AYER TAWAR, March 21 -- The Perak state government is expected to announce its 10-member executive council line-up today, with the swearing-in ceremony possibly be held on Monday.

A meeting of the coalition state government comprising the DAP, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and PAS had earlier agreed that the DAP would get 6 executive council seats, PKR 3 and PAS 1, besides the post of Menteri Besar which is now held by Ir Muhammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

Perak DAP chairman Ngeh Koo Ham said the 2 Deputy Menteri Besar chosen from among the 10 in the line-up would also be announced together.

"We have almost finalised the line-up, and we only need to streamline a number of portfolios. We expect to complete all this at our meeting late today," Ngeh, the Sitiawan assemblyman, told reporters here yesterday.

Ngeh, who is also the Member of Parliament for Beruas, had on March 13 said that he would be Deputy Menteri Besar I and while the Deputy Menteri Besar II would be from PKR.

Perak PKR treasurer Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, who is Behrang assemblyman, is tipped to fill that post.

Meanwhile, Selangor's new Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has finalised the state executive council line-up and will announce it on Monday after the council members are sworn in at Istana Alam Shah in Klang.

Several hundred supporters from 12 non-governmental organisatons held a peaceful demonstration at Dataran Alam Shah here on Wednesday asking Khalid not to even consider a non-Malay for the post of deputy menteri besar. Declining to be drawn into details on the composition of the line-up, Khalid merely said: "We (PKR, DAP and PAS) manage to solve it." He said he would explain his decision on this after the swearing-in.

"Yes, I will announce the list on Monday," he told reporters after attending the state-level Maulidur Rasul celebrations graced by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, here yesterday.

The protest group, led by Selangor Umno Youth chief Abdul Shukur Idrus, also asked Khalid to maintain the previous number of Malay executive councillors in the state. -- Bernama
